국문 소개

이 과목에서는 데이터 요약 예측 및 과학적 추론을 위한 도구로서 통계 모델을 사용하여 데이터를 분석하는 방법을 학습한다. 회귀모형 수업에서 소개한 선형 모델의 이론과 응용을 바탕으로 최근 도입된 계산집약적인 방법을 강조하면서 더 일반적인 함수 형태와 더 일반적인 종류의 데이터로 확장한다. 이 수업을 수강한 후에는 새로운 데이터 분석 문제에 직면했을 때 (1) 적절한 방법을 선택하고, (2) 통계 소프트웨어를 사용하여 이를 구현하고 (3) 결과 통계 모델을 비판적으로 평가하고 (4) 분석 결과를 비전공자인 협업자에게 전달할 수 있는 것을 목표로 한다.

In this course, students learn how to analyze data using statistical models as a tool for data summarization, prediction, and scientific inference. Building on the theory and application of
linear models introduced in the Regression Models 1, it extends to more general functional forms and more general kinds of data, emphasizing recently introduced computationally intensive methods. After taking this course, students should be able to (1) select appropriate methods when faced with new data analysis problems, (2) implement them using statistical software, (3) critically evaluate the resulting statistical models, and (4) communicate the results
of their analysis to non data scientists.
